Mitsurugi ailesi’ne imparator tarafından şeytan geçidini korumaları için önemli bir görev verilmişti. Ailenin varisi olan, Sora Mitsurugi, 13 yaşındayken deneme törenine çağrılmıştı. Mitsurugi ailesinde nesilden nesle geçen Hayalet Kılıç Stilini öğrenmesi gerekiyordu. Aynı yaşlardaki diğer 7 talebe başarıyla bu deneme törenini tamamladı. Ve şimdi geriye sadece Sora kaldı.
